1. The product manufacturer charges an accredited certification centre to test the conformity of his product with a standard resp. a technical regulation
2. The certification centre first conducts a so-called original inspection of the product and its manufacturing
3. After having received a positive result the certification centre issues the certificate. At the same time the manufacturer and the certification centre agree on a continuous surveillance of the product and its manufacturing.
4. The manufacturer brings his product with certificate and conformity mark onto the market
