Customer information regarding the decision-making rule
MPA NRW would like to inform its clients that in accordance with the „General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories (ISO/IEC 17025:2018) it is necessary to document a decision-making rule if a statement regarding the conformity is made (for example: the product xyz fulfills the requirements of standard DIN EN xyz / the threshold value was adhered to / …).
The standard DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 defines decision-making rules as rules, which describe how the measurement uncertainty is accounted for if a statement regarding the conformity to a stipulated requirement is made. This shall ensure the reproducibility and comparability of the test results.
What does this mean for your tests at MPA NRW?
Should you require a statement of conformity to be included in your test report, MPA NRW will - depending on the respective test range - apply the following rules in handling this request:
- If a decision-making rule is stipulated in the respective standard, this will be applied accordingly.
- If a decision-making rule is stipulated by statutory or governmental standards or rules, this will be applied accordingly.
- If no specifications have been made, the measurement uncertainties will not be taken into account regarding the conformity decision.
Should you require a different evaluation procedure please approach your responsible contact person. If required, we will be pleased to discuss and agree an individual decision-making rule with you.
Our employees will be pleased to answer any additional questions you may have.
If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
