Hardness reference blocks and indenters for hardness measurement: software helps to evaluate the test results
Producing metal components usually requires a constant material hardness. In order to permanently ensure this, manufacturers use hardness tesing machines. For their regular control hardness reference blocks are used. These are available for all hardness scales.
The MPA NRW is one of the leading testing laboratories that calibrate these blocks. In order to minimise the client’s effort the experts from the calibration laboratory have developed a software that can be downloaded by the buyer of a hardness reference block. This service is unique on the market and allows the client to automatically evaluate his test results.
The MPA NRW regularly organises a “Forum Hardness” for its clients where current issues of standardisation and practical experience as well as questions concerning the capability of measurement systems and measuring inaccuracies are discussed.
